The Ragland Family Education Foundation
Scholarship Details:
The purpose of the Ragland Family Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to Oklahoma students with limited educational funding who want to obtain a college degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)*.
The scholarship program intends to grant up to $5000 each in scholarship awards to qualified and deserving students. 2025/26 awards will be announced in May 2025. To date, the scholarship program has awarded over $560,000 in grants to students in Oklahoma.
Each award is to be used solely for: (1) tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at the student’s academic institution; and fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction at the student’s academic institution, and (2) room and board and any other related educational expenses that the student may incur.
These awards offer:

$5000 a semester for up to a total of four (4) semesters if successfully renewed.

All funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s bursar account to be used solely for: (1) tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at an Oklahoma academic institution; and fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction, and (2) room and board and any other related educational expenses that you may incur (“Non-Qualified Expenses”).

This $5000 per semester scholarship is renewable for up to three (3) additional semesters for a total of $20,000, as long as the student continues to meet the original scholarship requirements and:

Completes a minimum of 12 semester hours towards their intended degree in the previous semester.

Maintains a GPA of at least 2.5 in the previous semester.

Continues making positive progress towards a STEM degree*.

Remains a full-time student in good standing with their college or university.
*While we have high regard for these fields of study, our scholarship program is not intended for degree programs in the medical services field (including, but not limited to, veterinary medicine, nursing, dermatology, speech therapy, physical therapy and/or nurse practitioners). However, medical research fields such as biomedical chemistry are included. Scholarship Eligibility:
To Qualify for a Scholarship, Applicant must at a minimum:

Have graduated (or will graduate within 6 months of application deadline) from a high school located in the State of Oklahoma with at least a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or above.

Have been accepted by and will attend a public college or university in the state of Oklahoma, on a full-time basis. If you aren’t sure if your intended school qualifies, please feel free to send us an inquiry through our “Contact Us” page.

Will pursue a degree with a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) major*.

Be a United States citizen and a legal resident of the state of Oklahoma.

Will demonstrate financial need by supplying a copy of the applicant’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) SAR report.

Will provide an essay describing the applicant’s educational goals, future career plans, the level of demand for the applicant’s planned career and potential starting salary (must be a minimum of 500 words).

Will provide a resume, along with their transcript, and three (3) letters of recommendation with at least one being from a business professional and one from a school official. The letters of recommendation should be from individuals who have known the student long enough to have some understanding of his or her character and abilities.

Conduct themselves in a manner that should not bring the recipient into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule, or which might tend to reflect unfavorably on the Foundation.
